Join my affiliate scheme and get paid a commission for all those who buy my programs as a result of clicking on your link.
Most of my programs are currently sold through RegNow, join the RegNow affiliate program. This has a 30 % commission.If you follow that link, you get set up as an affiliate already for all my programs - of course you can also become an affiliate for any other programs sold at RegNow too.
Then go to Relationships | Robert Walker | Get Links to get the links you can use to link to my products.
They will look something like this:

where xxxxx is your affiliate id. Then whenever anyone finds out about my programs as a result of clicking on this link, it will get credited to your affiliate id - it sets a cookie on their computer. Then if later they buy one of my programs as a result of clicking on your link, you (will nearly always) collect your commission for it.
That's it done. RegNow will pay you directly.

Do any users buy your programs by some other method?
Yes - Some buy them using PayPal. Some pay me directly with a cheque in UK pounds. However percentage wise these numbers are small - less than one percent buy using any other method.
Others may use the new eSellerate system which lets them buy the program from within the installer. What I've done there is to make it so that all links in the eSellerate build take users to the update page for the eSellerate installer, and all links in the RegNow build takes all users to the update page for the RegNow build. So there should be little cross over between the two builds. Gradually I will add other programs to the eSellerate system. This gives you a choice - you can use whichever of those builds you prefer, or both.
With the RegNow system, some users also will disable cookies - but a reasonable percentage of the orders I receive are through affiliate links like this.
What percentage can I expect to buy?
This is a tough question to answer. Don't raise your hopes too high!
Of those who download shareware, generally only one in several thousand actually buy the programs, maybe one in five or ten thousand. A high percentage would be one in five hundred. Some programs go higher than that even higher than 1 percent and some vendors quote figures much higher than that for their software - but so far my highest is about one in 200. I don't know why, but I can say myself that I do download many more programs than I buy myself, and it could be in the region of a few hundred to one, so if others were like me then that might by itself explain it. Also some may download my programs in the hope of finding out what they could do with it for free and never intended to purchase it, especially in the case of programs that are freeware / shareware so actually designed to appeal to such users - as some of my programs are.
It is hard to estimate exactly as though many of the shareware sites link directly to robertinventor.com for my software, there are some that host the files themselves, which I don't track - mirrored on other sites. So don't expect too much! It will depend on whether my programs are ones that will particularly appeal to your visitors, and whether your visitors are ones that are likely to be interested in purchasing software that appeals to them. If they are already interested in such programs and will need them for their work, the figures will be higher surely, and in that case your percentage may go higher than my averages for the program.
Or to put it another way, for many years my income from all my programs was less than £10 a week with a total of many hundreds of downloads a week. It's going up a bit now - but unless you have huge numbers of downloads, and given that you only get a percentage of what I earn, the income from my programs alone is unlikely to be more than pocket-money figures.
But if you are able to promote the programs yourself, or have a targeted audience, the percentages may be higher. Even with a typical low percentage, if you are the owner of a download site with many other programs on it, the total amounts from all your programs may be enough to be of interest with my programs contributing a small amount to your income.
