Constructs the tune from long middle and short beats in a Fibonacci pattern...
This is an unusual rhythm idea originally developed by David Canright. Instead of the beats repeating in a regular pattern, a fractal construction method is used.
Any short sections of the rhythm will eventually appear again later on, so there is a lot of structure and repetition of parts of the rhythm. But the rhythm as a whole never repeats exactly. So it has a feeling of repetition like an ordinary rhythm, but an elusive quality too because though larger and larger fragments of the rhythm repeat the whole thing never does so you never can find a point where as it were, the "bar" definitely ends.
Each layer also plays the same rhythm, at different speeds. So for instance the L + S beat pattern in the first layer (normally played on part 1) may correspond to a single L beat in the next (slower) layer, while the L beat in the first layer may correspond to a single S beat in the next layer. It continues like that through all the layers.

This option uses the main window seed but only the first few notes, as many as are needed for the pattern of short and long beats in the rhythm.

How to use this window
Just switch on the option to play a Fibonacci rhythm. The presets are fine for your first experiments. You can see the beat pattern as it is played in the text box at the bottom. To try other rhythms and make your own custom fibonacci rhythms see the Custom 2 or 3 Beat Fractal Rhythm (Ctrl + 34).
Custom 2 or 3 Beat Fractal Rhythm (Ctrl + 34) also has a larger text area for the beat pattern as it is played, and an option to show the beat patterns for all the layers simultaneously, which is useful when you are interested to see how the tune is built up. You can find some example Fibonacci rhythm tunes in the Fibonacci Rhythms fractal tunes list, which you can get to from the main window. They can help you get started and suggest some the possiblities to explore with this type of rhythm.

Rhythm fractal to layer
How many layers the rhythm should be fractal for...
The idea of a fractal rhythm is that when a seed plays a single note in a slower moving layer, it should play it faster, or more slowly, depending on how long the note is in the seed at the slower moving layer. This ensures that each seed in every layer has the same internal rhythm - but means that seeds in the faster layers are continually changing speed to remain within single notes of the slower seeds. So if the seed in layer 3 for instance is playing a short note, layer 2 will be playing a fast seed, and layer 1 will play a whole succession of fast seeds so that they can all fit within that single short note in layer 3.
If you set the number of layers of fractal rhythm variation high here, then the rhythm of the fastest seed is likely to vary considerably as the tune progresses from very slow to extremely fast.

SHORTCUT FOR FRACTAL TUNES OR METRONOME
You can use Shift + click to fast forward...
Also Ctrl to fast forward even more. Shift multiplies the tempo by 10 and Ctrl multiplies it by 100, so the two together would play a fractal tune at for instance, 60,000 instead of 60 as the tempo. This is useful sometimes for fast forwarding through fractal tunes.
Volume
Set master volume for FTS. Other controls also affect the volume...
Bs | Play control brings up the master volume control for Windows as a whole.
The volume is also affected by the volume for individual parts in the Parts (Ctrl + 9) window.
For the Wave shape player, go to the Wave Shape Player Audio Format (Ctrl + 188)
For CSound instruments, you can set the overall volume in the C Sound Save Opts (Ctrl + 168)
You can also vary the volume in Out | Options | More | Volume remapping, note on / off volumes etc. (Ctrl + 158) and if playing from Midi In there's another setting at In | Options | Keyboard Options | Touch. (Ctrl + 91)

This window lets you build the rhythm up using different patterns of L (Large), M (medium) and S (small) beats.
Seeds for layers...
Set a different seed for each layer of construction of the melody...
This makes a tune with several seeds playing at once. If you use the options to rotate or permute the layer played, then the seeds will also change around from part to part.

F1 or click shows the help for the current window in your web browser.
Some windows may have no help yet in which case the help icon is shown crossed out with a red line.
Shift + F1 or Shift + Click brings up the tool tips extra help window (this window) to show any extra help for a tool tip.
You can tell if a tool tip has extra help if it ends ... like this one.
Ctrl + F1 or Ctrl + click takes you to the list of keyboard shortcuts for Tune Smithy.
Alt + F1 or Alt + click (alternatively Caps lock physically held down + F1 or Click) takes you to the on-line page at the robertinventor.com web site about the current main window task - which gives a short introduction to it for newbies to the program. If there is no on-line page specific to a task, takes you to the main tune smithy page on the web site.
Since the help for Tune Smithy is currently a bit out of date and needs to be redone completely for the new 3.0 release, then you may find the on-line page for some of the newer tasks particularly useful.

Reset, or Save settings for this window. RIGHT CLICK for all windows menu...
Shows the Organise windows window - which you can use to reset all the parameters for the current window.
You can also use it to save the settings for just this window, or open previously saved parameters for just this window.
Also has a drop list of all the windows and their shortcuts, and related options - some to do with the menu listing, and some to do with window resizing and minimising.
